After the recent torrential rains in Dera Ismail Khan District, the flash floods reached the city of Dera Ismail Khan wreaking havoc in the suburbs of the city, here on Friday.
Due to the torrential rains on Wednesday and Thursday, the flash floods and hill torrents hurtling down Koh-e-Sulaiman Mountain Range and South Waziristan Hills reached the Dera Ismail Khan City, threatening the urban population of D I Khan City.
According to Rescue 1122 Officials and District Administration of Dera Ismail Khan, here on Friday, the flood waters have entered several feet in Shorkot Village on D I Khan-Bannu road, Mufti Mahmood Hospital on D I Khan-Daraban Road, Gomal Medical College, warehouse of the Food Department, Pusha Bridge, CRBC Colony, Ratta Kalachi Sports Complex, Wildlife Zoo and Dera Township wreaking havoc on infrastructure.
The medical staff and patients of Mufti Mahmood Hospital have been shifted to a safe place with the help of boats by the Rescue Teams of Rescue 1122.
According to Rescue 1122 Spokesperson Aizaz Mahmood, rescue activities will continue under the supervision of Rescue 1122 District Emergency Officer Kamal Shah until every single person is shifted to a safe place.
Meanwhile, Provincial Minister Relief Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Wazir reviewed the rescue activities near Pusha Bridge and in view of the large number of flood victims, Rescue 1122 rescue teams from other districts have also been summoned to the affected areas of Dera Ismail Khan.
Rescue 1122 teams have so far rescued around 250 people including women, children and elderly people from different areas including Pasha Pul, Sago Pul, Hathala, Kanuri, Budh.
Meanwhile, in the presence of Provincial Minister Relief Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Wazir, Rescue 1122 teams from Mardan and Khyber also participated in the rescue operation near Pasha Bridge, while teams of Rescue 1122 were also dispatched to Budh and village Bachari late at night.
