Two people killed while five injured in Dera Ismail Khan City as heavy rains hit the Dera Ismail Khan division, on Thursday.
In the Mughal Kot area, the bridge on the Dera-Zhob Road has been swept away by the flood coming from Sarobi Top, cutting off the connection between Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In the districts of Dera Ismail Khan and Tank, the citizens have been affected badly as the flash floods from mountains enters the rural part of both districts.
Due to the flood, the connecting roads of rural areas of Tank and Dera Ismail Khan have been washed away.
According to the Meteorological Department, more than 66 mm of rain has been recorded in Dera Ismail Khan District in the last 24 hours and there is a possibility of rain today (Friday) as well. Due to torrential rains for two days, the low lying areas of Dera and Tank city and the streets of inner cities were filled with water, in many areas the rain water has also entered the houses and shops.
Due to the Flood Situation in D I Khan District, Deputy Commissioner D I Khan Nasrullah Khan ordered the closure of all Private and Government Education Institutes for two days (19 August and 20 August) in the entire district.
The Water capacity of Gomal Zam exceeded due to which the Flash Floods entered in Tank and badly affected the villages of Kot Azam and Pai, Pai Village is already affected by the flood caused by the previous monsoon spell.
Similarly, Dozens of villages have been inundated while hundreds of houses have been razed to the ground in Prova Tehsil, Daraban Kalan, and meged tribal area Kirri Shamozai.
Due to torrential rain in the entire D I Khan division, many feeders of electricity have been tripped, due to which electricity supply has been interrupted for 15 hours in many rural areas as well as in the D I Khan city.
A 5-year-old boy, Abdul Aziz, son of Bakht Zaman, also drowned in the drainage canal while playing outside the house in the back street of Liaquat Park on Circular Road due to rain and blockage of drainage canals in Dera Ismail Khan city.
Later, after continuous efforts, the body of the child was found by the local people and workers of WSSC from the drainage channel and transferred to the hospital where he died of his injuries.
While In Himmat Village, A Roof of a house collapsed due to torrential rains, As a result, Sheikh Shoukat, his wife and their three children injured.
Rescue 1122 Medical Teams rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the hospital after giving them first aid where their condition is said to be out of danger.
Similarly, due to rain and slippage near the Go Petrol Pump on Dera-Bannu Road, an elderly citizen riding a motorcycle fell down from the motorcycle and died.
The Torrential rain in Dera Ismail Khan division since Wednesday morning turned into a storm on Thursday night and wreaked havoc in Paroa, Daraban and Kirri Shamozai.
Tehsil Chairman Daraban Kalan Ehsanullah MianKhel said after the flood water entered Tehsil Daraban Kalan, MusaZai Sharif Road and surrounding areas, Lawarra Bridge in Daraban Tehsil is facing serious threats.
We are trying to make Shahr Panah (Protecting Wall) safer to reduce the flash floods.
On the other hand, in the limits of Tehsil Prova, the flood has entered Prova city and neighbouring villages of Chandna, Tilkan and Bharki due to which hundreds of houses have been damaged.
Dozens of villages in Merged tribal Area Kirri Shamozai have also been inundated while the roads connecting the area to other areas were damaged which cut off the connection of Kirri Shamozai with other areas.
Due to torrential rains, electricity and communication systems were disrupted across the Division, while many flood-affected areas are facing difficulties in relief activities due to broken roads.
