The mourning processions of Ashura Muharram ended peacefully in Dera Ismail Khan Division.
The main procession of Ashura Day in Dera Ismail Khan City was started from Imambargah Bammun Shah (Imam Hussain), 16 small and big processions from other parts of the city Hashmi Chowk, Hussaini Chowk, Imam Bargah Fazal Abbas, Imam Bargah Yalla Shah, Imam Bargah Hazrat Abbas, Haydari Chowk, Alamdar Chowk, Imambargah Haider Shah Shirazi joined the main procession, these processions passed through their traditional routes and reached Kotli Imam Hussain where they came to an end.
During the processions, the mourners recited Nohas, beat their chests and self-flagellate them for the martyrs of Karbala.
Langar and Niaz (meals) and Sabeel-i-Hussain (water distribution) were also arranged at different points on the way of the processions.
The main Ashura Procession in Tank was held in Gara Baloch village.
Strict security arrangements were made to maintain peace during Ashura Muharram while the cooperation of Pakistan Army, District Administration, Police and Peace Committees and all walks of life also play a vital role in the peaceful ending of Ashura Muharram.
Police enforced Section 144 in D I Khan and Tank Districts while for security measures, procession routes and adjoining streets were also sealed on Ashura Days while there was a complete ban on motorcycle riding and the mobile services were jammed on 9th of Muharram and 10th of Muharram. The D I Khan district was divided into 04 zones and 8 sectors while Tank District was divided into 3 sectors.
More than 7500 Jawans and officers of Police performed their duties in D I Khan while more than 2200 Jawans and officers of Police performed their duties in Tank Districts.
Frontier Reserve Police (FRP), Elite Police, Special Branch, Bomb Disposal Squad, Canine Unit, Control Unit and Reserve Personnel also performed their duties.
There are a total of 69 imambargahs in Dera district, 194 small and big mourning processions were taken out across the district till Ashura Day, a total of more than 642 mourning majlis were held across the district, on the day of Ashura,
Regional Police Officer Shaukat Abbas, District Police Officer D I Khan Capt (retd) Najam-ul-Hasnain Liaqat, District Police Officer Tank Waqar Ahmed, Assistant Commissioners of Dera and Tank, District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Kamal Shah, Chief Executive Officer WSSC Shah Jahan, TMO D I Khan and Tanks, District Chairman of Peace Committee and Secretary of Dispute Resolution Council (DRC) Haji Abdul Haleem Qasuriya, ex-MPA Mazhar Jamil Khan Alizai, President District Bar Dera Qaizar Khan Miankhel, Peace Committee members including Chaudhry Saddam Peepa, Chaudhry Jameel Ahmed, Dr. Abdullah Zafari, Fazlur Rehman Baloch, Sharif Chauhan, Chaudhry Shafiq, Shahid Chauhan and other dignitaries were also present along with the processions in D I Khan and Tank Districts.
